As early as the 1960s Mercedes-Benz vehicles were assembled by PT Perusahaan. In 1970 the com­pany PT German Motor Manufacturing initiated assembly of delivery vehicles made by Mercedes--Benz, in 1973 of passenger vehicles, bus production in 1979 and the construction of trucks in 1981. In the years1971-80 the company also built VW vehicles. Since 2000 the firm has been known as PT DaimlerChrysler Indonesia, 89.2% of which belongs to the DaimlerChrysler corporation. The current product range includes the following sedans: the C 180K (1.8-liter 145 hp), C 240 (2.6-liter 170 hp), S 280L (2.8-liter 273 hp), S 320L (3.2-liter 305 hp) and S 500L (5.0-liter 414 hp). In 2003 the old E 240 sedan was replaced by the newest E 200K sedan (1.8-liter 163 hp), E 260 (2.6-liter 170 hp), E 320 (3.2-liter 224 hp) and E 350 (3.5-liter 272 hp).
