Another plant, Siam Nissan Automobile, has manufactured Nissan pick-ups since 1977. In March 2004 Nissan increased its
stake in both companies from the original 25% to 75%. The Sunny Neo sedan (equivalent
to the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy from 2000) was launched in 2000 and restyled in December 2004. The vehicle
accommodates a 1.6-liter 118 hp or a 1.8-liter 128 hp power plant. Released in 2001, the Cefiro was
replaced with the Teana sedan in July 2004, fitted with a 2.35-liter 173 hp unit. In the
years 2001-2003
the
Sunny Almera sedan was assembled. The company’s
offer also comprises the original, restyled in 2001, 4-seat Wingroad NV pick-up,
resembling a coupe and equipped with a 1.6-liter 110 hp engine. Since 2002 the program has
included the Frontier 4x2/4x4 (equivalent to the Japanese Datsun D 22 Pickup restyled in 2001), housing a diesel
2.7-liter 97 hp or a TD 3.0-liter 150 hp power plant. The company is currently preparing a
model based on the Micra III.
