Mitsubishi were produced in South Africa from
the end of 1960s till 2001, first by Chrysler, then Sigma, Samcor and finally by Ford.
DaimlerChrysler has also manufactured Mitsubishi pick-ups since 1994 (in 1994-2001 under the name
Colt). The new, restyled in 2002 Colt pick-ups (= Mitsubishi Strada / L200 ‘1996), have been produced in 4x2/4x4 versions
since 1998 and equipped with
the following power plants: 2.0-liter 106 hp; 2.4-liter 132-134 hp; 3.0-liter 181 hp V6; 2.8-liter 97 hp diesel or
2.8-liter 125hp TD.
