Carlsson, established in 1982, began tuning Mercedes cars in 1984. The company’s owner, the fa­mous driver Ingvar Carlsson, joined forces with the Rolf and Andreas Hartge brothers (who worked for Hartge in the years 1971-86) in 1989, creating Carlsson Autotechnik GmbH, which increases the en­gine power of all Mercedes-Benz models (the S 6.0-liter to 405 hp, CL to 405 hp, E to 560 hp, CLK to 580 hp, SLK to 245 hp, SL to 580 hp, C to 420 hp), strengthens braking systems, modifies inte­riors, suspensions and exhaust systems, and mounts original rims, spoilers, bumpers, side sills, etc. Latest premieres: Essen 2002 - CK 32 based on the C-Klasse (3.2-liter 245 hp, 275 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 6.6 s), CMK 55K based on the new CLK 55 Coupe (5.5-liter 480 hp, 302 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.9 s), CM 50K on the basis of the new E-Klasse (5.0-liter 430 hp, 280 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.1 s), CM 50K based on the S-Klasse (5.0-liter 430 hp, 285 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.5 s) and CK 55 SL--RS based on the SL (5.5-liter 580 hp, 320 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.4 s); Frankfurt/Main 2003 - CMK 55K based on the new CLK 55 cabrio (5.5-liter 480 hp, 302 km/h), CM 50K based on the new E sta­tion wagon (5.0-liter 430 hp); Essen 2003 - CLK-RS (3.4-liter 367 hp V8, 310 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.4 s); 2004 - CK 55 RS based on the E-Class (5.5-liter 560 hp, 316 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.5 s), CM 50K based on the CLS (5.0-liter 430 hp, 293 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.2 s); 2005 - A (2.0-liter 166 hp diesel).
