Assembly volume in Ecuador in 2003 - 18,391 passenger vehicles

pick-ups.
Initially, the Omnibus BB company produced in the years 1975-93 buses under the name
Botar. In 1981 GM took over 51% of the Omnibus BB. In 1980, the assembly of the Chevrolet Pick-up, and in 1981 of the Blazer
SUVs
commenced. In addition, the AYMESA firm produced in 1970-84 passenger cars under
the Aymesa name and partially under license from Opel, then Opel
(1981-1999) and Suzuki (1991-99) vehicles under the
Chevrolet make were built. Since 2002, General Motors del Ecuador has manufactured the 5-door
Corsa hatchbacks and sedans, which are identical to the old Brazilian Corsa of 1994-2002. The hatchback comes
with a 1.4-liter 84 hp petrol engine and
the sedan with a 1.6-liter
91 hp petrol or a 1.7-liter 60 hp diesel unit. In 2003, production range was
expanded by the introduction of the Corsa Evolution sedan and 5-door hatchback
models, equipped with the 1.8-liter 102 hp engine, just as the new Brazilian Corsa of 2002. Since 1990 the 3-door Chevrolet
Vitara, identical to the Suzuki Vitara, has been produced there, featuring a
1.6-liter 79 hp power plant, and since 1999 - the 3 /5-door station wagon Grand Vitara, equipped with a
1.6-liter 92 hp, 2.0-liter 125 hp or 2.5-liter 142 hp engines. In May 2003, the Korean Spark (=Daewoo Matiz)
debuted. In November 2004 the Luv pick-up was replaced with the new Luv D-MAX 4x2/4x4 (2.4-liter 124 hp; 3.5-liter 197 hp; TD
2.5-liter 79 hp; TD 3.0-liter 130 hp), which is identical
to the Thai-made Isuzu D-Max. In the years 1996-2002 the production of
the Chevrolet Esteem, in 1991-2004 - Forsa II and in 1996-2004 - of the SUV Rodeo,
took place.
