FORD IKON NXT

FORD ENDEAVOUR

NXT, Fusion, Endeavour.
Production volume in 2003 - 18,915 vehicles (not
including CKD kits). Originally Ford trucks and passenger cars were assembled
in India in the years 1926-54. Ford and Mahindra formed a fifty-fifty alliance
in 1995

Ford India Ltd., which from August 1996 to 1999 manufactured the Ford Escort sedan at the
facility in Nashik. In 1998 Ford became 78% owner, in 2000 85% owner and in 1999 changed the
company's name to Ford India. In autumn 1999 the company's new production
facility in Maraimalai Nagar launched the production of the Ikon sedan (95% indigenous
components) based on the Fiesta. The model was replaced by the modernized Ikon
NXT sedan with 1.3-liter 70 hp or 1.6-liter 92 hp power plants, or a 1.8-liter
59 hp diesel engine. At
the end of 2003, the company launched the assembly of the Thai Everest SUV with a TD
2.5-liter 110 hp unit, called here the Endeavour. In November 2004 they launched the production of
the Fusion (1.6-liter 101 hp), with 70% of native components.
