In 1959 the state-owned VFJ company launched the production of trucks based on the MAN, and in mid-1960s they released jeeps based on the Nissan Patrol - the VFJ Jonga. Around the year 1990, this cross-country model was replaced by a new 4x4 station wagon, bearing the same name and housing an Ashok Leyland 4.4-liter 108 hp power plant.
