Production volume in 2003 - 26,124 passenger vehicles and 2,625 pick-ups. Sherkate Sahami company initiated in 1959 the assembly of the cross-country jeep-like vehicles called Shabaz/Hendy and made under a license for Kaiser Willys. The firm was renamed Pars Khodro in 1983. The company produced: in the years 1966-76 - the Shahin/Aria sedans (= Rambler), in 1972-85 - the Royale/2000 sedans (= Opel Commodore) and in 70s and 80s assembled Buick, Cadillac and Land Rover models. The original

Sahra/Sahra II jeeps were manufactured in 1984-2002, in 1987-2003 - the Nissan Patrol, and in the years 2000-2003 - the Nissan Safari Patrol. A majority (51%) of Pars Khodro shares has belonged to the SAIPA concern since 1999. Pars Khodro took over the production of the Renault 5 (body of 1972) in 1995, which was manufactured by SAIPA in 1976-94. The car is currently called Sepand PK (1.1-liter 55 hp engine) and is 92% composed of local components. The Sepand II was made in 2000-2002. The following models debuted at the 2001 Tehran Motor Show: Nissan Maxima, the original Nissan Roniz SUV and Nissan Pickup D 22. The Pickup D 22 has been available since September 2001 (25% of Iranian parts), and the Maxima with a 3.0-liter 227 hp engine - since January 2002 (12% indigenous components). A 5-seat Roniz SUV, equipped with a 2.4-liter 160 hp engine (25% locally made components), has been manufactured from the end of 2002. The motor show in Tehran in 2003 marked the debut of the following SUV models: the short, 4-seat Pariz with a 2.4-liter 160 hp power plant and the long, 7-seat Serenza, made on the basis of the Pickup D22 and furnished with a 2.4-liter 160 hp unit. The Serenza has been produced since 2004, the Pariz is planned for launch in 2005, and the Renault Logan and Megane II sedan for 2006. Pars Khodro has also manufactured, upon request, the Saipa Nasim hatchbacks since 2000.
