The company, established in 1963, produced in the
years 1968-80
Citroën models: 2CV station wagon, Jian (= Dyane 6), Jian Kombi / Pickup and the
cross-country Baby Brousse, and in 1975-97 the Renault 5 and 21. SAIPA took over Iran
Kaveh and Zamyad companies in 1998, and in 1999 - 51% of Pars Khodro. Since 1993 the following cars have been
made under the Kia Pride license: the 5-door Nasim hatchback (1.3-liter 53 hp engine) and the
Saba sedan (1.3-liter
69 hp plant). The Nasim
Safari station wagon was offered in the years 1998-2002. At the 2001 Tehran Motor Show,
the following models debuted: the Saba GTX and the streamlined 141 Liftback made on the
basis of the Saba sedan (since March 2002). The vehicles made on the basis of the Kia Pride
contain 95%
indigenous
components. The assembly of the Kia Rio, the model produced in Korea in 1999-2005, began in May 2005. The locally designed,
5-seat minivan called 710 Caravan, available with a 2.4-liter 105 hp engine, was
launched in 2000 and restyled in 2003. SAIPA has manufactured the Citroën Xantia hatchback (currently incorporating 20%
of local parts) with
a 1.8-liter 112 hp or 2.0-liter 135 hp engines since 2001. The Xantia Facelifting debuted
at the 2003 Tehran Motor Show, with its production planned for 2005. Since 2003 Z24 pick-ups have
been sold under the name ZAMYAD. The Citroën C4 Sedan is scheduled for 2006.
