Mercedes-Benz vehicles are assembled in Malaysia since the late 1960s, originally by two firms: Asia Automobile Industries until 2004 and Oriental Assemblers until April 2005. Starting in February 2005 (test assembly since November 2004) Malaysian Truck & Bus has assembled the newest E-Class se­dans (W 211): the E 200K (1.8-liter 163 hp) and E 240 (2.6-liter 177 hp), as well as C 180K sedans since July 2005 (fitted with a 1.8-liter 143 hp), C 200K (1.8-liter 163 hp), S 280 (2.8-liter 204 hp) and S 350L (3.7-liter 245 hp). Since 1951 these vehicles have been sold by Cycle & Carriage and then since 2003 by the new DaimlerChrysler Malaysia joint venture.
