PZL Mielec began the production of small electric cars in 1971. In 1997 PZL Mielec became Melex Sp. z o.o., which went bankrupt in February 2004. In August 2004 the company was bought by the Tyszkiewicz family. The program comprises 3 series of vehicles with different bodies. The oldest series subdivides into the following models: 743 (4-seater), 745 (pick-up), 666 (6-seater) and 667 (stretched pick-up). In 2003 a new series was introduced, including two models: 843 (4-seater) and 845 (pick-up). The latest series has been available since 2004, with the following models: 943 (2-seater), 945 (pick-up), 963 (4-seat pick-up) and 967 (stretched pick-up). Apart from these, the company’s offer comprises the cross-country XTR model on fat tires and the 627 golf buggy. The vehicles are equipped with electric motors, pegged at 2.9 or 3.6 hp (80-100-km range).
