RENAULT CLIO II SEDAN

RENAULT MEGANE
Models produced in Argentina:
Clio II (sedan, hatchback), Megane (sedan, hatchback), Kangoo.
Production volume in 2003 -11,798 passenger vehicles.
Established in 1955, from April 1955 to 1978 IKA manufactured the
Kaiser Jeep, in the years 1958-61 they released the Kaiser Carabella sedan, between 1960-62 - the Kaiser Bergantin
sedan, between 1962-75 the Rambler and in the years 1966-81 the original Torino sedan. In 1958 they launched the
trial assembly of the Renault Dauphine sedan, and in 1960 its production. IKA was
gradually taken over
by Renault, from 30% in 1963 to 100% in 1967, and in 1968 the company changed its name to
IKA Renault. In 1992 Renault withdrew most of its capital from Argentina, retaining only its 33% stake in the newly
formed partnership CIADEA. In 1998 Renault increased its stake in the company, and
altered the name to Renault Argentina S.A. Since 1997 the company’s program has included the Megane I model, available
as a sedan or a 5-door hatchback, with 1.6-liter 110 hp, 2.0-liter 140 hp or TD 1.9-liter 100 hp engines (189, 201, 185 km/h,
respectively).
The Megane sedan also comes with the option of a GNC (natural gas/petrol) 1.6-liter 82-95 hp power plant. In 1999 the Kangoo
was
launched, fitted with a 1.6-liter 95 hp engine, a 1.9-liter 65 diesel unit or a GNC 1.6-liter 82-95 unit. (164, 140 and 160
km/h, respectively).
In 2000
the
Clio I was replaced by the 3/5-door Clio II with a selection of engines
including: 1.2-liter
75 hp, 1.6-liter 110 hp or diesel 1.5-liter
65 hp (161, 187 and 155 km/h, respectively).
In February 2002 the program expanded with the introduction of the Clio II sedan with 1.2-liter 75 hp and 1.6-liter 110 hp
engines, or a
1.5-liter 65 hp diesel unit (161, 187 and 155 km/h, respectively). The Clio II sedan is also
available with a GNC 1.6-liter
82-95 hp power plant. In
March 2003
the
Clio underwent some restyling.
