in January 1984, under a contract in 1983. The Cherokee BJ 213/BJ 6420/BJ 7250/BJ 2021 SUV was produced from September 1985 to 2003. Its restyled and modernized successor, called the Jeep 2500, with a 2.5-liter 116 hp unit (145 km/h) in the 4x2 - BJ 6420 EB or 4x4 - BJ 2021 EB versions, made its debut at the 2003 Shanghai Motor Show. The Jeep 2500 - BJ 2121 EC version with a 2.5-liter 128 hp Mitsubishi plant came out in 2005. BJC still produces the 1965 famous Chinese BJ 2020 jeep (until 1989 known as the BJ 212). Since 1993, it has been the modernized BJ 2020 S series, since 1998 additionally marked as the Kuangchao and since 2000 only offered in two versions: the 4-door, 5-seat BJ 2020 SGZ convertible, or the 5-door, 5-seat BJ 2020 SMZ station wagon. These vehicles, with a 2.5-liter 100 hp or a 2.7-liter 100 hp engine, develop a maximum speed of 125 km/h. The swit­ched over (practically new) Ludi BJ 2020 T series model came out in 1997, to be replaced in 2000 with the City Cruiser BJ 2020 V series, comprising the 5-door station wagon (the BJ 2020 VT version) and the 4-door cabrio (the VA and VB versions) with a 2.5-liter 100 hp or a 2.5-liter 106 hp plant (ma­ximum speed 120-125 km/h). The Chinese Gri Cherokee with a 4.0-liter 197 hp engine (the 4000-BJ 2021 G versions) or a 4.7-liter 238 hp V8 unit (the 4700-BJ 2021 V8 version) was released in August 2001. The large BJ2S Warrior SUV with a 3.2-liter 115 hp turbo diesel, in the open BJ 2022 JC and BJ 2022 JLC estate body versions, debuted in May 2005. The vehicle is to be produced as of 2006.
